In March, I started a new project called The Empty Project. It involves two restrictions: use a 35mm lens, and try to make the scene look and/or feel empty, preferably the latter. The goal is two-fold: 1. I was feeling a little empty about my typical style and needed a bit of a break from it, and 2. See if I can make the audience feel the feeling of empty when looking at the photos.
Two great ideas Bryan - set constraints to encourage looking at a scene differently (I've done this in the past) and set a theme around a feeling (will try this). Bonus points for doing both at the same time! Thanks
Bryan ... Neat project ... one prime lens. I use Fujifilm so when I decide to "walk about" town/events I like the X100F which is a fixed lens camera with 23mmF2 (approx 35mm full frame) usually shooting wide open or nearly so. When we yearly visit Grand Marais I do it for a day but I do it for me and not fret if someone else will like it. Like you I found it to be refreshing not to think about other focal length lens choices and just "shoot" what I come upon that peaks my interest. Plus I bring the original Platypod kit for those low level perspective opportunities. Sorry I have not signed up for one of your recent workshop/tours but my knees are becoming a problem and I do not want to slow down a group. However I am doing some therapy/exercise sessions since I do not want to go through a knee replacement process ... hence so perhaps there is still hope for me to get to one of your workshops in the near future.
