Thanks for your musings, Bryan. I appreciate your perspective. Now I need to go organize my unread books, including Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire.

Imagine you did get through all those books - It would be like having no ideas for a new photography project!

I have to face it: I’m a hoarder when it comes to books. It saddens me that I’ll never get to many of them. There simply isn’t enough time.

“I just write until I find out what’s around the corner.” I relate to this so much! I often write myself around corners, figuring out what I mean as I get there! :)

Also, the industrial pigeon photo is fantastic. I like everything about it, it really draws you in. I’d like to meet that pigeon 🤣

Thanks! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that likes that photo.

I think it is great your mind is not just satisfied with the ordinary daily status quo. It searches for more.

That is how I view photography. No matter what I have shot in the past I am always searching for more. I am not sure what I am looking for but will be sure once I find it!

I loved this piece, and I'm a librarian. Now retired, still accumulating many books and reading very few of them. Go figure.

What a great read! Here I thought after all of these years, that I was the only person who did that!

Braiding Sweetgrass was a fun quick read. If you come a across a copy of Food of the Gods by McKenna I would snap it up and add it to your pile. It’s interesting to read about the relationship of food and beliefs. Thanks for sharing your list. A few I might add to mine. Cheers

I'll try to find a copy to put on my pile.

I liked today’s essay. Made feel different about all my unread books and about how I go about my photography. Have a great week. And I’m enjoying your empty project.

I write novels like you do photography - no outline, driven by curiosity. There are few rules.

I look forward to your essays. Today's struck a chord. I have photography projects in the works that I am sharing with no one - yet. My bookshelves are filled with many unread books, but I will keep adding to my collection. Thank you for sharing your perspective. You are a rare gem.

Thanks. That's a really good idea to keep your projects private until you're ready to reveal them.

I did like it. As a big reader, I accumulate books of all kinds, and a few of them are photography related. It's a wonder I don't have even MORE of them on my unread pile.

I don't know how you do it. I can't go into a book store without leaving with books. I'm struggling with reading right now though. I'm trying to do a book a month this year and I'm already behind.

And since I get publicists wanting to send me books for potential review...yeah, I get it
