Wow sounds like an enjoyable experience seeing something new and trying different shots. I really like the abstract mud shot and the one of the lone green tree against the red rock cliff, also the cottonwoods against the red rocks and your opening photo in the article. Those are my three favorites. All of the shots are beautiful. Enjoy your week and the upcoming winter solstice
Beautiful photos You photographic eye is amazing. The angles and compositions are what captures the story. Thank you for the opportunity of being part of your photography.
I love Capital Reef Park. One of the other reasons for me is that it is sooo less crowded than Zion/Bryce/Arches. The pictures great and the story of the travels fun.
I've spent tons of time looking at maps and apps, trying to plot potential spots for sunrise and sunset. It never before occurred to me that I could ask a ranger! 🤣🤦🏻♂️
I am still learning to be flexible. Funny enough the last time I was in Utah, I got hit by a snowstorm, too, and that's how I wound up in the Tetons.
Your planning for sunrise and sunset were good ideas.
Way back in 2014 when I went to Mesa Verde, they had a printed sheet for photographers on which ruins were best for sunrise, and which best for sunset.
Great story on having a goal and staying flexible. I liked hearing about your process of self assignment and decision making. I’m heading there in the spring for camping and photography, we will see how that turns out.😎🕊️
I love seeing your photos of Capitol Reef! You have similar shots but different angles and taken at different times of day. Hickman Bridge was really cool, but I also enjoyed Grand Wash Trail. We went to Sunset Point early in the day - your photo is so much more beautiful than mine 😂 Capitol Reef is definitely an afternoon light kind of park!
I and my bride visited (10 days) the National Parks in Utah five years ago. Since my bride is not a photographer it was more of a "tourist" visit. While I did not get about as you did I still managed a few decent photos so I envy you a bit. :) However camping as you did "days" are long gone for me. It appears from your excellent photos that perhaps you grasped what makes those areas so magical and thank goodness our government recognized that way back then so you and I could experience the glory of it all today.

Bryan this pictures are so gorgeous. I do not have money to buy a calendar, but I love looking at your photos on line! Carol Merry Christmas to you!🎅🏼
Thanks Bryan. A great story about the challenges of visiting a location with only limited time. And beautiful photos.
As Holly mentioned, all the shots are beautiful, but particularly like the fence barn photo!

I enjoy seeing the thought behind the photos - and always interesting to see these lesser-known parks and the beauty they offer
